A new year many times mean new fashion items. For me, this still means focusing on quality items to continue to edit my closet to only be full of clothes and accessories that I truly love. A lot of this means finding items that are classic versus trendy. This is why I’ve outlined my top picks for pieces to invest in this year.
Ever since I was little, I’ve always loved clothes. I still remember when little 5th-grader me finally convinced my mom to get me a pair of Mudd bell bottom jeans (gotta love the 90s!). My fashion choices though were not always very “fashionable” and it’s taken me a long time to get to where I am today in defining what my personal style really is.
Near the zoo in Seattle we have a rose garden. In the summer months it is of course, filled with all types of roses in full bloom. On the occasional weekend there might also even be a wedding ceremony being held there as well. I’d never been there before in the winter but we decided to go take a peek last weekend to see what the landscaping looked like. To my surprise, there were still a few rose blooms left on some of the bushes. Things for the most part were dormant but the garden provided a different type of beauty, one that you see when the changing leaves have almost all fallen off the trees. It’s that moment were you can clearly see the seasons changing and winter starting to set in.

Now that we are finally in November I’m ready for all the holiday stuff! I’m talking pumpkin everything, twinkle lights and all the holiday decor. I also like my outfits to match the season so I put this little post together to show off one of my favorite combos that is dressy, but also will keep your warm(ish). It looks cozy, how warm it truly is… I’ll leave that to you! Sweaters, skirts and tights. Those are my favorite things to pair together in the cooler months. I’ve also really been feeling emerald green this season. It’s a perfect color for the holidays if you’re not that into the reds and burgundies or want to wear something different. I paired together my Madewell button front skirt with a chunky wool sweater from Aritzia (similar here) and sheer black polk-a-dot tights from LOFT to create this look. Then to continue my green trend I added my new favorite statement earrings from local jewelry shop maker Baleen.
