Over the years my style has evolved from lots of accessorizing to now a more minimalistic look. I’d like to think it is because I’ve mastered the minimalist look but really a lot of it sometimes comes down to laziness. Pairing this blazer, sweater and denim together gave me a really effortless but still put together look. I’ve had this blazer for a few years which I found at Aritzia (similar here and here). I bought my pink sweater from Nordstrom Rack which is now sold out but I’m also loving this tie back blush pink sweater from Shopbop.
Living in Seattle means that I have to accept there’s a lot of rain here. After four years here I feel like I’m mostly used to it but it really can put a damper on my style. Investing in pieces that are waterproof and warm is a necessity to survival. I don’t always want to have to sacrifice style though for dryness so I’ve found a few items that look nice but also keep me dry. First, a raincoat. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gotten compliments on this bright red Helly Hansen rain coat. I think it’s because most people in Seattle typically wear black and grey coats, so a red one really pops out of the crowd (check out this similar style and color from ASOS). I personally believe if you’re going to be in the rain a majority of the year why not have a little fun with it? Another piece that I’ve invested in outside of my Hunter rain boots is a pair of leather booties that keep my feet dry when it’s raining. Don’t get me wrong, I love my Hunters and there’s a time and place for them, but sometimes they feel so clunky or I have to be more dressed up for work so a pair of booties does the trick. Check out the ones I’m wearing in black here.
I love how there are certain accessories that when added to an outfit immediately take it to the next level. One of those is the silk scarf. It just has the ability to add a level of chic to make an outfit look more put together with a very French girl vibe. I decided to play around with adding a silk scarf to my outfit this week and used it to dress up an otherwise very plain outfit. This particular scarf is one that I’ve actually had for years and very rarely use, but I’m really loving how this look turned out so I definitely want to try to incorporate it more often into my outfits. Below I’ve rounded up several of my favorite silk finds from both Ted Baker and Kate Spade (how beautiful is this world-map print scarf from Kate Spade?).
High lovelies! Do you ever have those days where you just want something easy, simple and yet stylish to wear? Last Sunday was one of those days for me. I’ve been following the silk cami trend recently and thought I’d pull something similar from my closest to make my own version of this and paired it with my favorite Levi’s jeans and a chunky cardigan sweater from the LOFT (similar here and here). I’m pretty pleased with how this outfit turned out. It’s not anything life changing but provides a quick and easy stylish option when you need to run errand and don’t want to look like a slob :) Check out similar items below to recreate this look yourself. (I’m really loving these two silk camis here and here).
